“CHEER” FOR A CURE

GAFFNEY, S.C.--  Limestone College Cheerleaders will be cheering to raise funds to help find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease.

They will be out at the Gaffney City Fire Department, Saturday October 27th preparing for the Alzheimer’s Association signature event, the Memory Walk.  Registration starts at 10 a.m. with the walk beginning at 11a.m.  The cheerleaders will warm up the walkers with a few exercises.  In addition, they will get walkers pumped up with cheers.

Along with cheering for the basketball team, the Limestone College cheerleading squad loves to get involved with the community.

“We are really excited about helping out the Alzheimer’s Association and are honored to participate,” said Coach Deanna Borders. All Limestone College fans are encouraged to come out and support the cause.

The year’s Honorary Chairman is News Channel 7’s Tom Crabtree.  He will be leading the walk with help from the Limestone College Cheerleaders starting at the Gaffney City Fire Department, going to the Elk’s Lodge, and back to the Fire Department.

Lunch will be provided as well as an air walk and other activities for the children.  In addition, kids are encouraged to participate in the Halloween costume contest and trick-or-treat in the downtown stores.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

The Alzheimer’s Association, the world leader in Alzheimer’s research and support, is the first and largest voluntary health organization dedicated to finding prevention methods, treatments and an eventual cure for Alzheimer’s.  The mission is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research and to enhance care and support for individuals, their families, and caregivers.  All funds raised in Cherokee County remain in Cherokee County.
