PUCETAS DRAFTED BY SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS |
Pucetas, a native of Spartanburg, S.C., had an outstanding season for Limestone, throwing six complete games and putting up a 7-3 record in his senior season of college ball. He led the team with 91.2 innings pitched, and struck out 117 batters while posting a 3.73 ERA. Pucetas earned Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference Pitcher of the Year honors, was named conference Pitcher of the Week twice this spring. Pucetas was also a member of the 2006 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-South Athlantic Region Second-Team. Major League Baseball holds the first-year player draft each June by conference call among the 30 major league ball clubs. This year the draft was held on June 6-7. Each organization takes turns selecting players in reverse order of its win-loss record from the previous season. The draft lasts no more than 50 rounds, but could be shorter if clubs drop out before the 50th round. |
