LANDER GETS 11-5 WIN OVER LIMESTONE |
GREENWOOD, S.C.—The Lander University baseball team beat Limestone College 11-5 on Tuesday afternoon at Legion Field. The Saints fall to 19-24 overall with the loss.
Lander scored a run in the second, and added two more in each the third and fourth innings. The Bearcats added for more runs in the fifth and another in the seventh.
Limestone scored in the fourth as Tyler Midgett (Summerville, S.C.) singled to left field to score first baseman Phillip Soden (Inman, S.C.) Right fielder James Edwards (Gaffney, S.C.) lead off the fifth inning with a home run, and Daniel Lydon (White Plains, Md.) doubled in the eighth to score shortstop Kyle Anthony (Lincolnton, N.C.) The Saints came up with two runs in the ninth, as Lydon singled to centerfield to score Justin Moore (Mount Holly, N.C.) and Matt Still (Moncks Corner, S.C).
Evan Christian got the win for the Bearcats after pitching the first six innings as he recorded three strikeouts. Brian Baugher (Frederick, Md.) took the loss for Limestone. Kyle Matheney (Spindale, N.C.), Clayton Knight (Moncks Corner, S.C.), Marques Kyles (Spartanburg, S.C.), and Shane Suter (Woodbury, Pa.) also pitched for the Saints.
Limestone plays Francis Marion on April 4 at 5 p.m. in Florence, S.C.
