LIMESTONE EDGED BY ANDERSON IN BASEBALL ACTION |
ANDERSON, S.C.—The Limestone College baseball team suffered its fourth straight loss on Thursday evening to Anderson University in a non-conference contest at Anderson Memorial Stadium. The Trojans edged the Saints 3-2 to improve to 15-20 as Limestone falls to 17-19. Anderson scored two runs in the first, but Limestone tied the score in the second inning. Catcher Kyle Brewer (Gruetin-Laager, Tenn.) hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield to score designated hitter Tyler Midgett (Summerville, S.C.) Shortstop Dylan Anthony (Lincolnton, N.C.) also had an RBI as first baseman Phillip Soden (Inman, S.C.) scored. The Trojans scored the game-winning run in the fifth as Jesse Whiteside tripled to score John Mac White. Kyle Matheney (Spindale, N.C.) took the loss for Limestone after he struck out three batters and gave up eight hits in 7 1/3 innings. Alex Dergins (Morganton, N.C.) finished out the contest for the Saints as he recorded two strikeouts and allowed no hits. Seven pitchers saw playing time for Anderson, but Justin Lovvorn recorded the win. Limestone travels to Hartsville, S.C., to play Coker College in three CVAC contests this weekend. Saturday’s doubleheader will begin at 12 p.m., and the first pitch of Sunday’s game is scheduled for 1 p.m.
