NO. 24 FRANCIS MARION HANDS LIMESTONE 13-4 LOSS |
GAFFNEY, S.C.—No. 24 Francis Marion University baseball team handed Limestone a 13-4 loss on Tuesday afternoon at Bob Prevatte Field. The Patriots climb to 17-8 overall while the Saints stand at 15-13. Brooks Sinquefield (Sumter, S.C.) picked up the win for FMU as Brian Baugher (Frederick, Md.) was tagged with the loss. Jeremy Riggs (Suffolk, Va.), Kyle Matheney (Spindale, N.C.), and Marquis Kyles (Spartanburg, S.C.) also pitched for Limestone. Patriot center fielder Derek Kennamer (McMinnville, Tenn.) was 5-for-5 on the day with two stolen bases and two runs scored. Left fielder Justin Greene was 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI, right fielder Nick Stewart was 3-for-4 with a double and a triple, while designated hitter Michael Ward batted in six runs from two home runs. The Saints struggled as the team only got six hits in 33 at bats. Limestone scored its first two runs of the game in the fourth, as designated hitter Tyler Midgett (Summerville, S.C.) singled to score first baseman Phillip Soden (Inman, S.C.) and left fielder Joey Asis (Gastonia, N.C.) The Saints’ final two runs came in the eighth, as Josh Izokovic’s (Shelby, N.C.) single scored second baseman Matt Craig and right fielder Paul Irby (Edgemoor, S.C.) Craig and Soden both hit doubles. Irby had a stolen base.
