BARKER TO RUN WITH LADY SAINTS

GAFFNEY, S.C.— Summerville-native Lauren Barker will attend Limestone College in the fall and compete with the Lady Saints cross country team, according to head coach Kevin Vees. Barker will graduate from Summerville High School and plans to major in Biology and Chemistry at the College.

Barker was a part of Summerville High School’s cross country team that has captured 15 consecutive regional titles. She was a four-year varsity starter from 2002-05 and helped the squad win the 2003 South Carolina AAAA girls state championship. She was named Gatorade Rookie of the Year in 2002, and was the team’s captain as a junior and senior. She also took home the Senior Award in 2006. In addition to being a four-year letterwinner in cross country, Barker also lettered two times in track.
